Did you have to change out your original 24v starter when doing the 12v conversion? The mini high torque starters are cheaper, but i do not want to lose the push button start on the floor. My M38 was already converted to 12v when i got it, but still has the original 24v starter.

I recently converted my 52 M38 to a 12V and the used the Kaiser Willy’s kit. Your correct the bracket is trash and I’ll be ordering the bracket you have shown in the video. Cannot get my pulley to align properly enough to stop it from squealing when the engine is running.

Did you do the cutting of the bus or did you hire someome?

The alternator output curve is not linear. You can get enough amperage at a fast idle with a 10si. Your belt may be holding you back but the L134 had a generator and a 5” crank pulley. You could try a smaller pulley but measure them, the shaft speed needs to be about 2500rpm at a idle and you are aiming at more than 50% of the load at idled. The crank pulley is about 5” diameter, the alternator pulley 2.5”. That is a pulley ratio of PI x D or 200% difference. A fast idle of 1250 rpm should give you 2500rpm shaft speed. You need to measure and then buy an alternator pulley, which are cheap. Cars generally have a pulley ratio of 3 which means an alternator pulley of 1.75”. Measure it.
